Explore The Many Fantastic Walking Tracks Available Through Out New Zealand Including The Nine Great Walks.

    Bethells Beach Coastal Walkway

    Te Henga Walkway2

This walk starts at the lagoon stream where it enters the west coast surf, There is another start point back up the Waitakere stream that climbs up the head land and joins this track at oneills bay but this way is more interesting, or you can start this walk at the end of Constable road, this trail is also section seven of the Hillary trail a fantastic multi day walk through some of the best west coast sceney avaiulable anywhere.

Head right at the stream mouth and walk past Ihumoana Island on your left when you get to the next rocky out crop there is a cave here, this is not the track just something of interest along the way, if the tide is out and no swell is running on the coast you can walk through to the other side and there is a little beach there and also you can walk out to the point on the left hand side it is possible to climb around the right hand side but not for the in experienced.

Head back through the cave and head up the hill at the top on your left is Kauwahaia Island and Oneills bay, walk straight ahead untill you arrive at the hole in the rock the little out crop in the middle of the beach.

The track starts here right beside the rock, from here you walk up a zig zag track to the farmland at the top and follow the cliff top to the first point this is a great place to view Bethells beach all the way down to Anawhata beach you then drop down a bit into Te Waharoa bay and follow the cliff line through to Kirikiri bay this is where the track ends on Constable road.

This track is part of the tehenga walk way that streachs right down the west coast. this part of the track is around 8 kms one way, there are many fantastic walks along the stunning West Coast and most are accessible from Auckland this section is around 50 minutes from the cbd and you need to pick good weather when attempting these walks as the west coast can be unpredictable at times.
