te waihou walkway

Te Waihou Walkway is located just east of Putaruru in the south Waikato there are two access points for the walkway, the first is just of state hwy 28 (Whites road), the car park is on the right hand side about half way along the main road, the second access point is just along from the main road car park a few hundred meters and turn right into Leslie road and there is a car park on the right hand side a few kms up the road.

The Leslie road access point is the most scenic part of the walk way as the track winds along the river bank through the trees and a small gorge, the walk way is around 4.7 kms in distance and fairly easy to moderate to walk, the water coming out of the blue springs is crystal clear and the bottom is covered in dark green water plants, the river is also full of good sized rainbow trout there are viewing platforms and seats all along the walk way and on a nice day with good weather is an enjoyable walk in the South Waikato.
