Mangawhai to Andersons Cove

Mangawhai

This walk takes in some of the best views around this area, on a clear summers day you can see from the top of the coromandel peninsula all the way up to Whangarai Heads, access to the track is at the end of Wintle st which takes you out to the Mangawhai surf life saving club, turn left when you are on the beach and walk along the beach for 500 or so meters untill you come to a small stream that emptys out on the beach here, you will see the track heading up the grass coverd hill side.

You will walk past a couple of houses before heading up onto the track proper, when you start to walk along the cliff face you will see Taranga island, Lady Alice and Whatupuke island directly out in front of you and Great Barrier, Little Barrier and also the Mokohinou islands if the visability is good.

The track runs almost along side a paper road here and joins up with Breamtail rd toards the end, you can also walk along down at beach level at low tide and walk out to the end of Breamtail the walk is only moderate but the views on a clear day are just fantastic.
