Wenderholm Regional Park

Wenderholm Regional Park is a great place for all the family to enjoy and located just north of the Waiwera Hot pools you can make a whole day of exploring this great park and enjoy a swim in the hot pools at the end of the day.

The regional park was one of Aucklands first parks to be established and covers around one hundred and thirty hectares, the park includes access to the popular Puhoi River which is a great place to bring the kayak you can kayak up the river on the incoming tide to Puhoi and ride the out going tide back to the river mouth.

There is a great bush walk located within the park the Manugatauhoro Heritage Trail starts at the carpark and climbs up the hillside through some beautiful native bush to the summit offering some great views down over the Puhoi River, then descends down the other side to loop back at the park, there is a great look out around half way down with fantastic views out over the Hauraki Gulf and islands.

Out in front of the Wenderholm Regional Park is a beautiful sandy beach to explore, you can walk south to rocks at the end of the beach or walk north to the Puhoi River mouth, this park can accommodate a large amount of people and in the summer months the park will be crowded as the area is a great place to picnic and enjoy water sports and has great bush walks for every one to enjoy.
