    Tapotupotu Bay Northland

    tapotupotu Beach Northland

This camp ground is located just east of Cape Reinga lighthouse and is the last camping ground in northland, the drive down Tapotopotu road is narrow and winding and gives you a glimpse of the camp ground and beach below. There are no public amenities here but there are some good camp spots just about right on the beach but camping space here is limited.

To the left of the camp is a large rock platform and right out at the end is a good place for kingfish and snapper fishing, right at where the sand joins the rock there is a track which takes you up and over the rocks and you can head west to sandy bay there are some breath taking views from up there.

To the right of the camp you can launch a small boat into the river at high tide and when there is no swell running venture out onto the ocean, at low tide you can wade across to the rocks on the other side there is a large gut in the rocks and a good place for fishing you can also climb the rocks here and walk along the cliff tops this camping ground is remote and any groceries need to brought in with you as the nearest shop is back at Waitiki landing.
