Explore The Many Fantastic Travel Destinations From The North Island And The South Island Of New Zealand.

    New Zealand's Northland Region is generally known as the warmest region of New Zealand year round, and is referred to as the winter less north, the area is dominated by the beautiful coast lines of both the East Coast and the West Coast which run down the northern peninsula and attracts tourists for many reasons.

    The far North is generally past the Bay Of Islands and is the least populated area of the Northland Region, the Cape Reinga Lighthouse at the very tip of the North Island is a great sight to see and the beautiful and stunning Cape Maria Van diemen to the left of the light house boasts the Cape Reinga to Twilight Beach Walk, which includes the stunning top coast and west coast.

    While in the area you can drive down the Te Paki Stream and through the giant sand dunes that dominate this part of the West Coast, then out onto the the wild West Coast Beach, this is the top end of Ninety Mile Beach and it is possible to drive all the way down to Ahipara, the parengarenga harbour and Great Exhibition Bay are also an attraction in this area with beautiful pure white and secluded sandy beaches.

    Moving down the West Coast Opononi is a fantastic place to visit there is a statue located here to the Dolphin that went swimming with the locals and this area is of historical value to the Maori people, just south of Opononi is the vast expanse of the Waipoua Forest and home to Tane Mahuta the largest of the great Kauri trees that are left, they were very nearly harvested to extinction back in the early days of New Zealand.

    Over to the East Coast and the Bay Of Islands this area is full of historic locations and the place where the Treaty was signed between Maori and the British Crown, the treaty house is located in Waitangi and is open to the public, the Stone Store at Kerikeri has great historical value in the area built in 1832 the Stone Store was part of the Kerikeri Mission Station which also includes the Kemp House.

    The Bay Of Islands has a stunning and beautiful coastline, while here you can hire a tour boat and visit the Hole In The Rock which is located at the end of Cape Brett and explore the many islands that the area is famous for, Cape Brett also boasts a stunning walk the Cape Brett Track which starts at Rawhiti and concludes at the light house at the end of the Cape, a permit is required to walk the track and there is bunk accommodation in a DOC hut which requires booking in advance.

    The Poor Knights Islands off the East Coast of Northland are world renowned dive areas and can be accessed through Tutukaka where the dive shop will organise tours of the Islands for divers, you can dive the Islands but are not allowed to walk on the Islands.

    Whangarei is the last City in Northland before the Auckland region starts, and boasts some fantastic walks, the Whangarei Heads is a great place to visit and the Mount Mania walk is a fantastic mountain walk with stunning views out over the harbour and coast line, another fantastic walk in this area is the Te Whara Scenic Reserve walk that starts at Ocean Beach and finishes at Smugglers Cove and includes the Peach Cove Track.
