Mahurangi Regional Park Part 2

scotts landing

Part Two Mahurangi East

Access to Mahurangi East and Scott Landing, you need to take State Highway 1 to Warkworth and follow the signs to Snells Beach. Roughly 1km past Snells Beach, take a right into Ridge Road and drive to the end, the last part of the road is a lot narrower once you are past Algies bay.

The carpark at Scott point is small and cannot accommodate very many vehicles most of the time the parking is taken by boat owners as there is boat launching and a wharf located here.

The beach here is also small and is located right in front of scott homestead at low tide it is possible to cross a sand bar to Casnell Island and explore the coast line, scott landing is a safer place to take a kayak as you are right inside the harbour here and it is possible to explore all the way to Warkwoth although you will be in for a long day.

There is one camping ground located on this side of the Harbour at Lagoon Bay south east of Scott landing and on another peninsula, Lagoon bay is only accessible by boat or kayak, the camp site is run by the Auckland city council and booking is required.

There are very limited amenities here a basic long drop and water is available some times from a water tank, there are walking tracks at Lagoon bay that cover the entire end of the peninsula this is a stunning place to camp in the summer and is secluded because of the access.
