    Mimiwhangata Coastal Loop Walk

Looking for secluded beaches, stunning East Coast views and a fantastic coastal walkway Mimiwhangata has it all located around forty eight kms north of Whangarei city and fifty two kms south of Ruussel in Northland Mimiwhangata is a stunning place to see.

To get there head to Helena Bay a small settelement on the East Coast and follow the signs, once past Teal Bay the sealed road ends and is gravel all the way to Mimiwhangata this road is not suitable for caravans or large motorhomes as the road winds up a ridge line then down a very narrow road to the valley below.

Once at the carpark there is a stunning beach with fantastic views just in front of the carpark, the coastal walkway starts here through a small gate, the fist part of the walk takes you along an access road for the guests staying at the lodge and heads towards the working farm.

This walkway is an open loop and follows a grass access road for the cattle farm, past the farm lake the walk heads up a small hill at the top there are stunning views North up the East Coast to Okura and back along the Mimiwhangata peninsula.

Decending back down the hill top the track now heads towards Mimiwhangata Beach a fantastic white sand beach that is deserted most of the time the walk follows the beach then heads back close to the carpark,

This walk takes around two hours for the loop and is easy going, there is a lodge that can be booked for accommodation and camping is available at Waikahoa Bay, access by foot only from the carpark, the area around Mimiwhangata is a marine reserve but fishing is allowed with restrictions in place please read the rules before hand, the walkway is through a working farm so close all gates behind you.
