Kepler Track South Island New Zealand

The Kepler Track is around 60 km long the tramping track goes through some stunning landscape of the South Island, New Zealand and is close to the town of Te Anau. The track goes passes through the Fiordland National Park, and there is a diverse landscape of rough mountain edges, tall overgrown timberlands, lake shores, wetlands and waterways.

Like the mountains it navigates through, the track is named after Johannes Kepler. The track is one of the New Zealand Great Walks and is maintained by New Zealand Department of Conservation Compared with other walking tracks in New Zealand, this track is well developed. Most streams have bridges over them, footpaths cover boggy regions. The track takes three to four days to finish at a comfortable pace.

The track starts from the Lake Te Anau Control Gates and loops around to finish in the same place. It can be walked in both directions. The track can be abbreviated to three days by leaving or entering at the Rainbow Reach swing bridge by utilizing transport to return back. There are two camping grounds on the walk and there is a 10-hour hike between the Brod Bay and Iris Burn campgrounds.

The first night it is advisable to remain at Luxmore Hut, and then proceed to Iris Burn campground for the second night, finishing the track to Rainbow Reach on day three, or stop at the Brod Bay camp ground.
